Anyone who has dealt with horses knows that their health and well-being are extremely important. We present to you the story of Gerrit, a thirteen-year-old KWPN gelding, who has been with his owner and the author of this case study since the beginning of his career.
GERRIT, GELDING, 13 YEARS OLD, KWPN, ASTHMA, DEGENERATIVE JOINT DISEASE
HISTORY:
Gerrit has been with me since he was broken in. He is used as a dressage hobby horse. Asthma was diagnosed 3 years ago, with shortness of breath being the main symptom. Over these 3 years, he sporadically received steroids during severe attacks, medications via nebulization, supplements, and herbs. We tried everything possible to make his life easier. Since he has been undergoing desensitization since September, I wanted to avoid using steroids as they interfere with the desensitization process.
EFFECTS OF USING HEMPQUALIZER+:
Hempqualizer+ was recommended by the horse’s dietitian. I administered it for the first time at the end of February when the first warm days arrived and there was a drastic change in weather. I noticed that his breathing was getting worse. After 3 days of administering Hempqualizer+, his shortness of breath subsided (he also received an inhaled medication once during this time) and did not return until now (June) when I decided to use the second portion I had purchased earlier. A similar reaction occurred; after 3 days, his breathing calmed down. Along with this, I noticed an overall improvement in his mood. Gerrit also struggles with degenerative knee disease, and for the past few days, he has been relaxing more quickly and is more willing to work.
