PERUN, 18 YEARS OLD, STALLION, LUSITANO
HISTORY:Perun is an 18-year-old Lusitano stallion with a rich past and not always pleasant experiences. Born in Portugal, he changed owners multiple times. This exceptionally intelligent horse likely worked with bulls, a popular practice in Portugal. By the time he arrived in Spain, he already bore two deep scars, likely from bull horns. He moved from one trading stable to another.
PROBLEM:When he came to us, he was very reactive, exhibited strong stallion behavior, feared humans, and showed a degree of aggression. Simple tasks like grooming or lunging caused stress, and the sight of a whip triggered aggression. After several years, we achieved a certain level of relaxation, trust in humans, and a strong desire for contact. However, some stress during work and training in the arena remained. Training sessions had to be very short, as the horse’s focus and concentration levels were insufficient.
